This is Joe. He popped into the Hugh Cubitt today to see Rob, our local history man to share his wonderful experiences of life in Islington. Joe aged 78 has lived in Islington all his life. After serving in the army in the mid 1950s, Joe worked on the railways for 23 years, first at St Pancras and then at Kings Cross. He then worked for the John Lewis Partnership near Warren Street before retiring in 2000. Joe now does voluntary work and looks after old people. He is Vice Chair of his local tenant association and a member of Islington Pensioners Forum. He is Islington’s oldest newspaper boy having done a paper round for thirty years! His charm and Charisma lit up the office and his positive outlook put a smile on everyone’s face.
